Draft 2026−27 Budget and Fees and Charges

Strathbogie Shire Council has released its draft 2026−27 Budget and Fees and Charges for public feedback.

The Budget details the investment Council will make in delivering more than 80 core services, and maintaining assets and infrastructure.

The operating expenditure for 2026-27 is projected to be $41.73 million ($32.93 million excluding depreciation) and the Budget will deliver a $13.12 million capital works program.

As with most rural and regional councils, Strathbogie Shire is operating in a highly constrained financial environment. Cost of living pressures continue to affect our community and the organisation. Rising fuel prices, higher materials and labour costs, and ongoing inflation have placed sustained pressure on the Budget in real terms and through higher depreciation expenses.

The draft Budget proposes an average rate increase of 2.75% in line with the rate cap set by the Victorian Government under the Fair Go Rating system. This approach balances the need to reduce impacts on ratepayers with the requirement to continue funding essential services.

The Budget will deliver an underlying surplus of more than $2 million.

Draft 2026-27 Council Plan Action Plan

The Strathbogie Council draft 2026-27 Council Plan Action Plan is now open for public feedback.

The Action Plan derives from the Shire’s Council Plan 2025-29 and details the work Council will undertake over the coming year to deliver the objectives outlined in the plan.

The draft Action Plan aligns with the funding priorities and key initiatives identified in the draft 2026-27 Budget.

Council is now seeking feedback on the draft 2026-27 Budget and draft 2026-27 Council Plan Action Plan.
